TRANSNATIONAL EDUCATION: DOUBLE-DEGREE EDUCATION PROGRAMS.

13.02.2026

On February 5-6, 2026, the British Council organized and held a workshop "Development of double-degree education programs". The head of the educational program "Foreign Language: two foreign languages", A.S. Zholdabayeva, took part in this workshop. Transnational education, and especially double-degree programs, are becoming an important tool for the internationalization of Kazakhstani universities. They make it possible to improve the quality of education, expand academic cooperation, strengthen the international reputation of the university and create new opportunities for students and teachers.

The event was organized by the British Council in Kazakhstan, and in particular, the head of educational programs at the British Council in Kazakhstan, Nadezhda Trubova. The workshop was facilitated by Sholpan Tazabek, Vice-Rector for Global Partnerships, Almaty Management University and Zhailagul Sagyndykova, Vice-rector for Internationalization and Infrastructure Development, Kokshetau University named after Ualikhanov.

This workshop was aimed at helping Kazakhstani universities to systematically approach the design and implementation of double-degree education programs. As Aliya Saduovna notes, this workshop was very rich, informative and useful with the prolongation of work at the local universities.

KBTU, as the flagship in this area, has been working with double–degree education programs since 2005, for more than 20 years, and has shared its experience and recommendations on this issue. At the end of the workshop, all participants received certificates of participation and fruitful work. The project is not a one-time project, as it requires continuation.  Each representative of regional and national universities should conduct similar workshops with their colleagues at the university with the approval of the composition of the working group and the development of a document on the double-degree education programs at their university.
