125th anniversary of Sultanmahmut Toraigyrov's birth

The summer of 2018 should be the brightest and most intense season for the citizens of Irtysh land. This year we simultaneously celebrate the 80th anniversary of our small homeland and jubelee dates of outstanding personalities of Pavlodar region. The hero of the first holiday was Sultanmakhmut Toraigyrov.

The 125th anniversary of the bold  poet-democrat was noted near the Toraygyr village in Bayanaul district. About three thousand people from different parts of Kazakhstan gathered in the ethnoaul consisting of 27 yurts. All of them were united by one goal - to recall the work and life of the eminent poet and to admire the richest nature of the Bayanaul region.

The holiday of commemoration Sultanmakhmut Toraigyrov began with the solemn opening of the monument to the honorable inhabitant of this region Kabiden Aubakirov. Akim of the region Bulat Bakauov took part in this event.

Kabiden Aubakirov headed Toraigyr village for 20 years. He also made an enormous contribution to the process of renaming this area to Sultanmakhmut Toraigyrov. Kabiden Aubakirov scored many rapids and reached Almaty in order to achieve this goal. He also contributed to the social and economic development of the village and had the authority of local population.

Guests of this event had an opportunity to enjoy beautiful nature and breathe fresh mountain air. Everyone could find favorite activity for themselves. Someone was interested in the recipes for cooking Kazakh national dishes, someone wanted to get acquainted with the creativity of artisans engaged in the production of Kazakh household items. In the other part of the ethnoaul were competitions for the duathlon and Kazakh kuresy. Along with the fighters from Pavlodar, athletes from Almaty came to try their hand at the Kazakh kuresy.

Table games including togyzkumalak, chess, checkers were organized for lovers of intellectual competitions. Youth had fun on the Altybakan swing and girls held a master class on cooking Kazakh national dishes.

Duathlon competitions began with the demonstration performance of experienced marathon runner Marat Zhylanbayev. The athlete who crossed the steppes of four continents brought a lot of changes to the world records. The length of the duathlon marathon that joined Zhasibai and Toraigyr lakes was 25 kilometers. The first stage of the competition athletes passed on bicycles, in the second showed their endurance running at speed. The event ended with a gala concert with the participation of local stars.
