ENHANCING TEACHER METHODOLOGY THROUGH ONLINE COMMUNITIES

Due to the “Future English” project launched by the British Council as a pilot for students and teachers of pedagogical universities in Kazakhstan, the British Council implemented an online course via Online Teacher Community platform. In this regards, teachers of pedagogical university could be able to improve their professional competences and abilities in teaching English language in the classroom. Margulan University was one of the universities that took part in this pilot program. Prof. Dr. Mergul Kulakhmetova and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aigul Akhmetova successfully studied the course and obtained the facilitator position for representing Pavlodar Pedagogical University named after Alkey Margulan for further teaching and instructing pre-service teachers in Kazakhstan.
During the fall semester from September to December 2023, Prof. Dr. Mergul Kulakhmetova and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aigul Akhmetova were facilitating the 4th-year university students the 45-hour online program launched by British Council. The program involved six modules with certain assignments to perform, live sessions, forum and webinar discussions. At the end of the course, successful learners received certificates of the British Council and were able to improve and fulfill their knowledge in teaching English language in the classroom. We believe the received knowledge of this online program will be useful and valuable for further implementation in teaching practice.
