Scientific activity

The research activities of the educational programme «Pedagogy and Psychology» are carried out in accordance with the priority areas of scientific development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the university’s research policy, and the work plan of the Higher School of Pedagogy. The main objectives are to develop scientific potential, investigate current issues in pedagogy and psychology, train academic and teaching staff, and integrate research findings into the educational process.

The research activities of the educational programme include the implementation of research projects, the preparation of scientific publications, the preparation and defense of master’s and doctoral dissertations, the publication of monographs, and participation in scientific and practical conferences and seminars. The integration of research findings into the educational process contributes to improving educational content and developing students’ research competencies.

An important component of research activities is the organization of regular scientific seminars involving undergraduate students, master’s students, early-career researchers, professors, and invited scholars.

The seminars address current issues in pedagogy and psychology, methodological foundations of research design and implementation, principles of research ethics, data processing and analysis methods, and the interpretation of research findings. In addition, students and master’s students receive academic and methodological support in preparing scientific articles, research projects, and final qualification papers.

One of the priority areas of research activity is the publication output of the educational programme’s academic staff. Faculty members publish articles in national and international scientific journals, including journals indexed in the Scopus and Web of Science international databases.

The faculty members’ h-index values range from 1 to 4. These indicators reflect ongoing efforts to integrate research findings into the international academic community and strengthen the research potential of the educational programme.

Particular attention is paid to engaging undergraduate and master’s students in research activities, supporting their academic inquiry, and developing their skills in presenting research findings. Students participate annually in competitions and academic Olympiads related to Student Research Work (SRW) and Master’s Student Research Work (MSRW), presenting the results of their own research.

In the 2024–2025 and 2025–2026 academic years, students enrolled in the «Pedagogy and Psychology» educational programme won second place in subject-specific academic olympiads held at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University and E.A. Buketov Karaganda National Research University, respectively.

These achievements demonstrate the level of students’ professional training and contribute to the development of their research competencies, critical thinking, and skills in presenting research findings.

The educational programme also contributes to the organisation and delivery of the university’s research events. In the 2024–2025 academic year, a Student Research Work (SRW) competition was held at the university, followed by a Master’s Student Research Work (MSRW) competition in the 2025–2026 academic year.

These events help develop students’ research potential, facilitate the exchange of research experience, and promote academic cooperation.

An important outcome of research activities is the enhancement of faculty members’ academic qualifications and the strengthening of the research and teaching workforce.

In the 2024–2025 academic year, M.S. Utegenova successfully defended her dissertation at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University and was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Social Pedagogy and Self-Knowledge.

In the 2025–2026 academic year, A.E. Mukhamedkairov successfully defended his dissertation at E.A. Buketov Karaganda National Research University and was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the «Pedagogy and Psychology» educational programme.

These achievements demonstrate systematic efforts to develop the research and human resource potential of the educational programme.

The research activities of the «Pedagogy and Psychology» educational programme are aimed at improving the quality and impact of scientific publications, developing students’ research competencies, training academic and teaching staff, and expanding academic cooperation.

The results achieved demonstrate a systematic commitment to supporting scientific inquiry, fostering a research culture, strengthening the research potential of the educational programme, and promoting closer integration between research and education.
