Educational program "Pedagogy and Psychology"

The Higher School of Pedagogy implements the Educational Programme “Pedagogy and Psychology” at three levels of higher education:

• Bachelor’s degree;
• Master’s degree;
• Doctoral degree.

The main goal of the Educational Programme is to train highly qualified teacher-psychologists who possess up-to-date psychological and pedagogical knowledge, professional and research competencies, and are capable of effectively providing psychological and pedagogical support to learners, organizing the educational process, and addressing professional tasks in the context of the modern education system.

The Educational Programme has been developed in accordance with the State Compulsory Standard of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (SCSE RK), the Professional Standard for Teachers, and the National Qualifications Framework. It is also aligned with the Dublin Descriptors and the European Qualifications Framework.

The content of the programme is aimed at developing professional and specialized competencies in pedagogy and psychology, ensuring learners’ readiness to provide psychological and pedagogical support and address professional tasks in the fields of education and social protection.

The Educational Programme “Pedagogy and Psychology” develops cooperation with educational organizations and social institutions in the Pavlodar region, including schools, the Municipal State Institution “Regional Centre for the Support of Children in Difficult Life Situations,” the Municipal State Institution “Centre for the Analysis and Development of Interfaith Relations,” the “SAMAL” Rehabilitation Centre, and the branch of the Republican State Enterprise on the Right of Economic Management “Republican Scientific and Practical Centre for Mental Health.”

The University operates a Psychological Support Centre, which in 2025 established the Laboratory for the Study of Deviant Behaviour among Young People. At the Centre and the Laboratory, learners conduct psychological and pedagogical research, master methods of psychological assessment, correction and counselling, participate in personal development training programmes, and acquire practical skills necessary to address professional tasks.

Particular attention within the Educational Programme is given to the development of academic mobility. Learners have the opportunity to study, undertake research internships and professional placements at universities in near and far abroad, thereby broadening their academic and professional horizons, developing research competencies, and becoming familiar with contemporary educational practices.

The development prospects of the Educational Programme “Pedagogy and Psychology” are associated with expanding cooperation with educational organizations in the Pavlodar region, improving the content of the programme, and introducing new courses aimed at developing competencies in demand within the modern education system.

The implementation of the Educational Programme is supported by a qualified academic teaching staff.

The programme employs 14 full-time faculty members, including:

• 1 Doctor of Psychological Sciences;
• 3 Candidates of Pedagogical Sciences;
• 1 Candidate of Psychological Sciences;
• 3 PhD holders;
• 4 Senior Lecturers;
• 2 Lecturers.

The faculty members annually enhance their professional qualifications and participate in research and methodological seminars, professional development courses, as well as regional, national, and international scientific and practical conferences.

The results of the faculty members’ research activities are reflected in publications in scientific journals recommended by the Committee for Quality Assurance in the Field of Science and Higher Education, as well as in international peer-reviewed scientific journals.

The Educational Programme “Pedagogy and Psychology” is accredited by the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (ARQA) for a period of five years, from 30 May 2024 to 29 May 2029.
