Educational programs "Pedagogy of preschool education and training"

All activities of the EP “Pedagogy of Preschool Education and Training” are focused on the expectations of employers and the needs of the regional economy. It is based on the overall strategy of innovative development of teacher education reflected in the documents on the modernization of the higher professional education system of the country.

The uniqueness of the educational program lies in the differentiation of educational trajectories, ECERS, STEAM, and inclusive standards.

Academic advantages: practice-oriented education, AI tools, and dual education. Professional and scientific-pedagogical training of highly qualified specialists is carried out at a high level in two educational cycles:

• 6В01210 – “Pedagogy of Preschool Education and Training”, Bachelor’s degree; Educational trajectory: Preschool Teacher and Teacher-Methodologist (additional training);
• 6B01211 – “Preschool Education and Speech Therapy”, Bachelor’s degree;
• 6В01202 – “Preschool Education” IP, Bachelor’s degree;
• 7M01211 – “Pedagogy of Preschool Education and Training”, Master’s degree; Educational trajectory: Preschool Education and Training, Teaching at a Higher Education Institution.

Form of Study:

• full-time study based on general secondary education (4 years);
• full-time study based on technical and vocational education (2 years);
• full-time study based on technical and vocational education (dual education – 2 years);
• full-time study based on higher education (dual education – 2 years);
• full-time postgraduate education (Master’s degree – 2 years).

The goal of the educational program is to train highly qualified, functionally literate, competent, and competitive preschool education teachers who are in demand in the educational labor market and are able to carry out pedagogical activities taking into account the specific characteristics of children of younger preschool age.

Currently, 6 full-time academic staff members work in the EP “Pedagogy of Preschool Education and Training” (1 Candidate of Sciences, 1 PhD, 4 Master’s degree holders in Pedagogical Sciences), as well as 3 part-time staff members (1 Professor, 1 PhD, 1 Master’s degree holder in Pedagogical Sciences, an employer).

During the implementation of the EP “Pedagogy of Preschool Education and Training,” students study general education disciplines, methodological cycle disciplines, specialized methodological disciplines, and profile disciplines. All disciplines correspond to the updated content of the kindergarten program in pedagogy and methodology of preschool education and serve to train professionally competent, research-oriented, and socially oriented preschool education teachers who are capable of creating a safe, developmental, inclusive, and digital environment for every child.

Graduates of the EP can also continue their education in a Master’s degree program in the relevant specialty.

EP faculty members and students regularly participate in international and national scientific conferences. In addition, the Higher School of Pedagogy annually organizes scientific conferences at PPU.

The Higher School of Pedagogy, which provides training under the EP “Pedagogy of Preschool Education and Training,” cooperates with preschool organizations in Pavlodar and Pavlodar Region, as well as with higher education institutions in Kazakhstan and in near and far abroad. Cooperation with preschool organizations makes it possible to monitor changes taking place in preschool education. Heads of kindergartens and preschool teachers participate in discussions of the elective course catalogue. This makes it possible to include in the catalogues the courses necessary for work in preschool organizations.

The EP “Pedagogy of Preschool Education and Training” provides continuous scientific and methodological support and practice-oriented interaction with preschool organizations in Pavlodar. Cooperation with higher education institutions serves the purpose of exchanging experience and provides opportunities for the academic development of EP faculty members and students. The development prospects of the EP “Pedagogy of Preschool Education and Training” are associated with further development of cooperation with preschool organizations in Pavlodar and Pavlodar Region and with the introduction of new disciplines into the EP that enable graduates to acquire the competencies necessary to work in modern preschool education institutions.

Student exchanges within the framework of academic mobility were carried out with higher education institutions (Zlín, Czech Republic; South Kazakhstan State Pedagogical Institute; Nizami Tashkent State Pedagogical University).

The educational program has repeatedly achieved high positions in national rankings of educational programs. The EP “Pedagogy of Preschool Education and Training” has received prize-winning places. Every year, students of the specialty 6В01210 – “Pedagogy of Preschool Education and Training” actively participate in research activities and receive prize-winning places in international and national Olympiads, competitions, and conferences.

Overall, the participation of students of the specialty 6В01210 – “Pedagogy of Preschool Education and Training” in subject Olympiads demonstrates positive dynamics. To determine the effectiveness of participation in subject Olympiads, a percentage indicator for prize-winning places was adopted: 1st place – 100%, 2nd place – 66%, 3rd place – 33%, no prize-winning place – 0%.
